The kings have arrived. One stands tall in deep green, one in soft blue, and the third kneels in red with his gift held out before him — three hand-painted wooden figures between 6cm and 8cm, ready to complete the nativity scene.
The painting is beautifully done. Colour is brushed on in soft washes so the wood grain shows right through, each king wears his own crown, and the faces are kept simple and still. They're distinct enough that children quickly give each one a character and a name of their own.
