Bare wood, nothing added. Five nesting pieces left completely unpainted, so the grain runs right across the roofline and every house looks a little different from the next. There's a quiet appeal to it — warm to hold, lovely to look at, and beautifully at home on a nature table or an open shelf.
The play is just as busy as it looks calm. Little ones start with the fitting-together, working out which piece slots inside which, then stacking them into towers that don't always survive. Later they become a house for dwarfs and dolls, a fence around the animals, a tunnel for cars to disappear into.

What's the difference between the natural and coloured nesting house?
Only the finish. Both have five nesting pieces of the same shape and size, and both play identically. The coloured version adds bright water-based stains that bring colour sorting and matching into the play, while the natural one is left bare so the wood grain shows through. Families often choose based on what suits their home.
How do I care for unpainted wooden toys?
Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry right away — never soak them or use harsh cleaners, as water and disinfectants can raise the grain or cause cracking. Keep them out of direct sun and away from radiators. If the wood looks dry after a few years, a little food-safe wood oil brings the warmth back.
