Description
Thirty-six orange cones, and every one of them stands! Cones are the shape children reach for when something needs to point upward — a fir tree in a forest, a traffic cone, a party hat, a flame, a rocket ready for launch. Stood in a ring they make a mandala with real presence; laid on their sides they roll.
Orange gives them a particular warmth, which is why they turn up so often as autumn trees, campfires, and harvest scenes. They also sit beautifully on top of flatter loose parts, so children start balancing and stacking almost immediately — quiet, careful work that builds a steady hand.
Each piece is hand-dyed rather than painted, so the colour sinks into the wood with the grain still showing. Shades vary a little across the set, as they do with anything finished by hand.
Why we love the Grapat Wood Mandala Orange Cones:
- 36 Cones That Stand Tall: A shape that holds itself upright, ready to become trees, flames, hats, or towers.
- Balancing and Stacking: Perching cones on other loose parts takes a careful hand and builds real control through play.
- Warm Orange Tones: Shades that suit autumn scenes, campfires, and harvest small worlds beautifully.
- Hand-Dyed Wood, Age 3+: Water-based dyes soaking deep into the grain, so colour won't chip when they topple.
What can children build with cone-shaped loose parts?
Cones tend to become anything that points up. Children use them as trees to build a forest, flames on a pretend fire, hats for wooden figures, rockets, mountains, or simply as the outer ring of a mandala. Combining them with flatter mandala pieces adds height and shadow to whatever they're arranging.
Is Grapat worth it?
It depends what you want from a toy. Grapat is hand-dyed in a small Spanish workshop with non-toxic water-based dyes, which costs more than machine-painted alternatives. What justifies it is that these pieces don't wear out or get outgrown — the set gets used differently every year, holds its colour through all of it, and still looks lovely enough to pass on.

About the Brand
Grapat is a family-founded brand that emerged from the simple yet profound realization that children thrive on open-ended play. Established in the serene countryside after the founders observed their own children's imaginative play, Grapat has dedicated itself to creating wooden toys that encourage creativity, freedom, and interaction with the natural world. Their philosophy is deeply rooted in respect for childhood, believing in the power of simple, unstructured play to foster development and imagination.
Handcrafting each piece with care and attention to detail, Grapat uses sustainable materials sourced within the EU, emphasizing eco-friendliness and safety. The toys are brought to life with natural dyes and finished with vegetable-based waxes and oils, highlighting the wood's inherent beauty and ensuring each item is unique and safe for children. This commitment to quality and sustainability reflects Grapat's values of environmental stewardship and the promotion of a slower, more intentional way of life.
At the heart of Grapat's ethos is the belief that toys should serve as tools for play, not dictate it. By offering materials without instructions or imposed limitations, they invite children to create their own stories and games, nurturing their innate ability to innovate. Grapat stands as a testament to the belief that through play, children can explore the world, understand their place within it, and express their individuality freely and creatively. -
